ISRO is now set to launch its first High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) broadband service in the country. When this service is launched commercially, it will be the country's first satellite internet system. And this update comes at a time when Elon Musk's company Starlink has been forced to shut down its operations in India.
Starlink did start its business in India but was forced to close the business as per government orders. In fact, the government banned Elon Musk's company from starting a business without obtaining a license. This time the domestic company ISRO is going to deliver high-speed broadband internet service across the country.
Dr. S Somnath, Chairman, Initiatives and Government Networks, ISRO, said that we are exploring ways to work with the private sector in various areas to further improve the livelihoods of the people of India. He also said that the satellite internet used in this new HTS system of ISRO will be able to provide better internet services in the country.
As a result of this step of ISRO, the trend of digital systems in the country is going to increase. They are already providing broadband services via satellite to more than 2 lakh businesses and government institutions. And that's why the organization has taken the help of 75 satellites. Now the aim is to deliver this high-speed internet to all corners of the country.
ISRO's GSAT-11 and GSAT-29 satellites have been very helpful in providing Internet services to India. Through this, internet service can be easily available everywhere, be it jungle or remote areas. Incidentally, Jio along with Airtel and Vodafone are also gearing up to launch satellite internet services in India.
